- A. D. 'Cowboy' Kean (1882-1961), the ex-rodeo cowboy, packer, rodeo promoter, photographer, and filmmaker who lived in Vancouver ca. 1913-1927. Kean is probably best known as the first British Columbian to make a feature film – i.e., 'Policing the Plains', which was shot in the years 1924-1927 in Vancouver, the Cariboo, and southwestern and central Alberta, as well as in Saskatchewan and Trenton, Ontario
- His name is spelled out in studs on his leather chaps
- In the summer of 1923, A. D. was managing the 'Range Days' rodeo at the Vancouver Exhibition.
