- "He helped his father around Chapman's Machine Shop on Seymour, first driving at the age of 14...helped his grandfather over Christmases at Edward Chapman Ltd... worked winters in one of his father's bowling alleys, Chapmans on Seymour...He worked with the Provincial Government Survey Branch from 1950 to 1953 before rejoining his uncles, then opening his own office in West Vancouver in 1955 as his uncles retired. Ray devoted his career from 1955 to date with the development of West Vancouver. He was President of the Land Surveyors in 1963 and was made a Life Member in 1981... He was the recipient of the West Vancouver Heritage Award in 1996 and made WV Citizen of the Year in 2004. "
